Get rid of rank altogether.

I cant ever get into a group at HA because i dont have a rank, its impossible to raise it at all.

I understand the builds, i get how it all works, and im probably better than half the idiots who are using it but i cant get a group. Seems unfair to me. nuke the rank system

What's the problem with rank emotes anyway? Shall we restrict dancing to LA and "sit" to Maguuma Stade because there are benches?

I'd have to disagree with this one - I mean most emotes are usless bits of fun. Is /dance or /guitar relavent??

If you don't like it that some one is showing off those emotes just move along. I guess I don't see this as an issue for the devs to worry about.

Hmm I wonder then If I'm hallucinating Because there is PLENTY of new pvp players in HA without rank.

If you are good in PvP then go with them I'm sure they are like you, knows the builds but don't have played any of them before.

Is it responsibility to highly ranked players that have their friends and own groups to play with new players - no.

You will get your rank like we all did. Just play and win. You can't say theres no groups forming...Better yet make a guild group.

For the topic: I have seen maybe Two groups in PvE that requested rank/FoW armour so it's pretty seldom. It is very tiny minority that act like that...

So let's not strip away everything and fight with our teeth

I would also add - if a group says they want FoW armor players - I'd probably NOT want to be in that group. I mean what does that say about your ability to play?? Pretty much nothing. I could have FoW armor - I personally don't like the look. That is a prety bad measure of a players skill.

I'd love to see that happen. I'm still stuck at 8 fame (yes fame, not rank) for over 4 months just because no one wants to take newbies in their teams, and random teams can rarely pass the first map.
It's really bad made by ANet, they should've seen it coming and done something about it.
High ranked players aren't better than others, heck I've done lots of GvG which is harder, and I'm still at low fame.

??? ??? ???
all emotes (regardless, the need to acquire or given) were meant to be for fun/decorative.
if some feel the need to use it for "other specific purposes", let them and move on.
IMO: no big issue, rank emotes being visible to everyone and everywhere is fine.

I think there is no need for a solution as for there is no problem for it currently. HA isn't the only area that ranks are useful, TA is another useful place. Even though the gameplay is different, that does not mean you are not experienced in PvP. Now if you only have a deer, than maybe.

As far as PvE people being jelous and angered about PvP people coming into their little PvE worlds and emoting in their face, I think they should shut up and get over it. You worked for all your perfect weapons and armor thats died black to show off doing countless 2man UW or 5man FoW runs, or solo'ing either, so why can't we have our opportunity to show off as well.

As far as PvP assholes coming in thinking they are better than everyone just because PvP does take more skill than PvE, is rediculous as well and I do not codone that. If this has pushed PvE people to making threads like this then I appologize for the countless assholes that we have in PvP, especially HA.

BTW, I worked very hard for my Warrior and Monk FoW armor and all my perfect and near perfect chaos axes, eternal shields, staves and HoD sword...are you telling me since those are obtained through PvP I can't bring them into HA? I think honestly you just need to blow the PvP'ers off and just concentrate on PvE and not worry about what PvP people do or say if it really bothers you this much. Change districts do something to get away from it if it really bothers you.

------

Here is another view, if you were interested. Have you ever known how hard it is in PvP, especially HA when you know absolutely no one in PvP(HA) scene and you are unranked and have to pug with unranked newbs to get r3? Do you know how hard it is not having a good guild that can win consecutives and win or hold halls a few times and restort, guess what more crappy pugs(yes crappy r3 pugs). I don't think you really appreciate PvP or respect it even, maybe due to the assholes that emote in your face at ToA. But put yourself in our shoes.

Hi,

Actually the Rank emote differs from the other emotes in that only certain people have them. /dance and /guitar are not relevant because everyone can use them.

/rank is ONLY relevant in HA and IMO SHOULD only be relevant in HA and that is why I started this argument.

/flute doensn't help you get into a PVE group. But for some reason flashing your /rank does. Some people are confused into believing that having a Rank emote somehow makes the owner of the emote an uber player in all aspects of the game...which is of course complete nonsense.

I have read a few of the comments here about how players were able to get in PVE PUGs easier when they flashed their rank. Is that fair to others who don't have rank?

I think everyone has also seen cases where the holders of Rank intentionally provoke ppl, start arguments and act like jackasses just because they have a rank emote. Wouldn't it be great if this nonsense was limited to just HA? Then a person with a higher Rank could flash his rank and get the idiot to shut up.

To those of you who have earned your Rank honestly, I don't see how restricting Rank emotes to HA would affect you in anyway. You can still dazzle the newbies in HA with your deer emote.

Why is it so essential for you to have the ability to flash your emote in PVE areas? Why do you do it? Why is a similar system of PVE Rank so intimidating for some of you?

I orginally suggested 2-solutions to this problem:

1) Restrict the use of Rank emotes to HA
2) Implement a system of Rank for PVE and other PVP arenas as well

I now have a new suggestion:

3) Outiside of HA, everyone has the Rank emote available. /bear, /deer,...etc. In this way you negate the meaning of Rank in PVE areas...and make it really irrelevat...which is exactly what it is in PVE.

It seems the reason why you want emotes out of PvE is because: inequality of getting into groups, PvP/HA assholes, Rank is for HA(PvP).

Out of the 3 main arguements you present, only 1 is viable: Rank is for HA(PvP). Inequality of getting in groups because a ranked person joined the group you wanted in, guess what get over it and make your own. IT happens in HA all the time of a rank8 guy getting into the group over a rank6 or 7 guy. As far as assholes go, I was thinking this might be viable but it isnt, just ignore them or change districts. There are reasons why Anet implemented the party transfer function in the game.

As far as Rank being for HA(PvP), you got us there. But enforcing the restriction of rank to just HA is rediculous. That's like getting Fissure of Woe armor, and not being able to use it unless you go back to FoW. Would that be fair?

As far as emotes in PvE, I don't think they are necesary. I think implementing possible, some kind of XP accumulative ping would be nice (like how you ping your level in team chat). For now go off the honor system, HA people have to do it as well and although many abuse it many still honor it. For example, rank6 people advertising "rank 8 newbie lf r8/9+ iway". We deal with the same crap if not more than you PvE people deal with. And I'm sure if you had to go through the same crap that me and the rest of the rank 6/9+ people here in this thread and the community had to go through, than I'm sure you would be in opposition of your stance.

they aren't relevant at all you mook... any jerk face can get a level 6 rank emote by buying one from a waste of flesh rank broker. and the fact that it has become so easy to do makes it all the more irrelevant. The fact that you silly mooks still require rank whatever to play in HA is just a joke to me. eventually you will be so bored playing with yourselves in the same old builds that have been around since almost inception that you will just leave the game. Because god forbid you play the other 80% of the game at some point...

How about this. lets just rid ourselves of the rank emotes entirely. or better yet. every chapter require a rank reset. that alone will drive thousands of you mindless people out of the game in droves. Opening the area up to all players once again. without the Rankest attitudes.

Remember when you could just grab a PUG and play a few hours and have a few celestial sigals for your efforts? I do. A fond and pleasant memory... One that is now a "distant" memory. It has not been like this since well before the Heroes Ascent map change from Tombs.
Started off being R3 required. OK not too hard to achieve... fine.. now its R6 required. soon if something is not done R9 will be required. Thus locking out ANYONE that just buys the game NOW out of Heroes Ascent forever. because you can not get rank unless you play and you cant play with a decent group unless you have rank... thus LOCKOUT.

This is vastly approaching paradox. Something, Anything, has to be done soon. either CAPPING rank at some point, or reset, or removing emotes, something... Otherwise HA will very quickly become a dredge of rankest attitude as the chapters roll by, that will never allow a new player access to their area.

The people who HoH'ed before HA and Anet decided adding a /emote into the game would benefit the player's want and needs. To me, it did. If you were at a certain skill level, and had a rank emote to prove it, then why not be able to start a group that correlated with your skill and rank. The few problems I see with diluted rank significance is now people who quit the game or buy 2nd accounts to power farm fame with IWAY then sell them on ebay for $200+ to the first newb with the most money. Also you have people, or use to have people, like Biteme and other famous IWAY ass munchers, power farm fame them to rank3+. I have a serious problem with this, because even the ones that do get power ranked play a build that teaches you nothing to minimal knowledge about HA/PvP plus now you have ranked newbs joining groups either from that or ebay.

I have seen it many times, and it is very evident when one joins your party and it is very frustrating. I believe most of them only have r3 accounts, and only a handful have r6-r9 accounts, thank god. As far as winning halls and getting your daily sigil back in the day, I wouldnt know. I have only HA'ed since the day that Tombs moved/changed to HA, which was roughyl 2 months. I guess my question is why are you so frustrated that people require rank? Do you want rank 6-9 people playing with unranked groups? I mean come on, they earned the emote(most of them) so they deserve to flash it and play in the same ranked groups as them.

Only certain people....most of whom actually earned their emotes. Leave my emote alone. I play only prot monk and it took me a lot of begging when I was <6+ to get into half-decent groups. To add to it, as soon as I say "hi" on vent, they find out I am female so then I have to prove that "girls don't suck at pvp" in order to keep getting groups. I worked my arse off to get my emote and while I may not be interested in pursuing tiger/phoenix, I sure as hell won't let you take away something I worked hard to obtain.

Quote:

PvE already has their own "rank" system: FoW armor. People who farm a lot, etc earn the funds to buy it. People who suck either go without it or eBay it. Just like HoH emotes.

/not signed its like fow armor for PVP players... people spend hundred of hours playing HA to get a emote...

/signed.. would love to have emotes that people earn fame like every time they complete game with an char.. 50 pve fame or something.. every quest, 1 fame etc... so people that have spended hundreds .. if not thousands hours playing pve (like me) walking around with an nice emote for pve...

If you have spent thousands of hours in PvE, then you should have earned enough to purchase things like 15k armors, perfect weapons/upgrades, FoW armor, etc. There is no need to add any /rank for PvE. You already have a visible representation of your efforts: armor and weaponry.

/signed.

If they don't give us a PvE Emote in PvE, why would a PvP Emote work in PvE? I like the idea of gaining Fame with completing a quest, mission or the game.
